Manchester United’s David De Gea discusses PFA TOTY inclusion

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has explained how proud he is to be included in the PFA team of the year but insists he must win silverware.
The Spanish goalkeeper is widely considered as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and is even now being seen as the best in the world.
The player has single-handedly won Manchester United numerous points this season with some of his incredible performances.
That has netted him a spot in the PFA team of the year which features the best players over the course of this season.
Safe to say, he is pretty happy about it.
‘I’m very, very proud to be nominated once again and I guess it’s a result of me having a good year on a personal note,‘ De Gea explained to ManUtd.com.
‘It makes you even more proud, really, when you know your fellow professional players have nominated you. It’s really a source of satisfaction

for me.

Still work to do

While David De Gea is pleased with his individual award, he has admitted disappointment that Man United have not competed for their ‘big targets’ in terms of trophies.
United were expected to compete for the Premier League and Champions League but fell well short of both.
Now, the FA Cup is all they have left to target.
‘I’m pleased with how my own performances have gone; it’s just a pity this season we have not won one of our big targets trophy-wise,’ De Gea continued.
‘We’ve still got the FA Cup in front of us and must make sure we win a trophy and not just a personal accolade.’
